Faculty Highlight: Tracy Ross

What is your role at Cushman?

I am the Laura Cushman Academy Director

How long have you been working at Cushman?

I have been at Cushman for 21 years.

Tell us about your role at Cushman.

I enjoy the day-to-day responsibility of running the LCA program at Cushman. My team and I’s objective is to ensure the confidence as well as the social, emotional and academic success of our students. I am there to support and guide the teachers, counsel parents and students, and I work together with our team to set curricular objectives and goals for individual students. I also work with the other administrators to help support any student who needs accommodations, interventions or a more specialized learning plan.

Can you briefly describe a professional or career highlight?

I feel that it is an accomplishment to work with a wonderful team of professionals who are dedicated to providing a place that supports, loves and nurtures each child and brings out the potential in the students.

I am also proud of serving as the Board Chair of The Lucy Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality structured literacy intervention to at-risk students who would not be able to afford this type of intervention otherwise.

Tell us about your educational background?

I have my Bachelors degree in psychology and studio art, my Masters of Science in Counseling specializing in School Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Counseling specializing in Marriage and Family Counseling.

Why are you glad to be an educator at Cushman?

I LOVE MY JOB AND I LOVE MY SCHOOL! I am glad to be an educator at Cushman because we are able to think outside of the box to work together with families and students who need a more individualized approach. I love that everyone who works here recognizes the value of inclusivity. It is a wonderful and happy place to work.
