The Cushman School takes a personalized approach to educating each student to ensure he/she reaches his/her fullest potential. In following Dr. Cushman’s philosophy, our faculty and administration are committed to identifying and understanding the unique “gifts” within each child and planning age appropriate educational journeys to bring our students’ talents to fruition. In order to connect with students and offer individualized instruction, small student-to-teacher ratios and ample teacher assistance are evident. To this end, our School continues to develop confident, creative and critical thinkers, who exhibit tremendous leadership and strength of character in the various fields they pursue.

We believe that great education is one that works in partnership with its families and community to develop students to their fullest intellectual, creative, social-emotional, physical and spiritual capacities. It is the personalized approach with not only our students, but with their families and our community, that creates the culture of friendship, camaraderie and warmth and differentiates our School environment. We enroll over 850 students in our developmentally designed divisions: Primary School, Elementary School, Middle School and High School.

Early Decision is available to siblings of current students, children of alumni, and families who select The Cushman School as their first choice, in grades which are entry points. 1. Prospective applicants inquire about the School through an email or phone call.
2. Schedule a tour of the School with Patty Hernandez (PK-8^th grade) or Dr. Adriana Reynolds (9-12^th grade).
3. Submit an application along with the $150 application fee.
4. Upload or email relevant evaluations:
   1. Speech/language evaluation (PK-3^rd grade)
   2. OT evaluation (PK-3^rd grade)
   3. Recent (last 2 years) Psycho-Educational Evaluation for students in (K-12 grade)
   4. School records

Once the application is finalized (completed application, uploaded evaluations, teacher recommendations received, previous school records received, application fee paid), a visit with the applicant will be scheduled. For students in PK-5, an initial visit with our speech therapist and occupational therapist will be scheduled. A second visit will be scheduled in the classroom pending observations from the initial visit. Students in grades 6-12 will be scheduled for a full visiting day. During the visit, applicants will shadow a current student and will have an interview and assessment with administration.

Once all steps are complete, the application will be reviewed by the Admissions Team. Once a decision is made, the Laura Cushman Academy Director or the Director of Personalization will email the family to notify them of the admissions decision. If accepted, an enrollment link from our Veracross database will be sent to the family. Families have seven days to complete enrollment. If accepted, but space is not available, the applicant will be placed in a wait pool. If denied admission, the family is welcome to apply in future years.
