Student Testimonials

As we celebrate the Class of 2026, we’re also proud to share reflections from members of the Class of 2025—powerful voices that capture the Cushman experience and the preparation our students carry into top universities.

“While Cushman has experienced impressive growth in its facilities and student population, I’ve been most inspired by the ways our school has remained the same for 100 years. Industry, courtesy, and responsibility are embodied by the Cushman spirit in 2025 just as much as they were in our founding philosophy, and that continuity shows Cushman has developed a culture worth celebrating. Cushman goes above and beyond to cultivate a sense of belonging and community, whether through classroom instruction or extracurricular activities. As a longtime ballet dancer, I’m grateful for the flexibility and support that allowed me to pursue my artistic and academic interests simultaneously, and I feel prepared for college thanks to Cushman’s outstanding teachers, peers, and college counseling department. To my entire Cushman family, thank you!”

Jasmin Rossi, Class of 2025

“Cushman has never failed to provide an environment where teachers and administrators are genuinely invested in my success. Since 9th grade, I’ve felt supported in shaping my high school experience exactly the way I envisioned it, and when I advocated for AP Macroeconomics and AP Statistics, the school listened and quickly incorporated both into the curriculum. With Cushman’s encouragement, I was able to pursue my academic interests while creating new opportunities for my peers by founding the Science National Honor Society and co-founding the Young Coders’ Initiative. Even starting a Cooking Club was met with enthusiasm and support, proving Cushman truly values the diverse interests of its students. The personalized attention I’ve received has given me the confidence to succeed in the next steps of my academic journey and beyond.”

Nicolas Younes, Class of 2025

“Cushman’s support of its student leaders is truly unparalleled. As a student who co-founded both the Black Student Alliance and the Literacy4Kids club, I was consistently encouraged by faculty and administration to take initiative and create space for meaningful dialogue and service. At many schools, launching student-led initiatives can feel like an uphill battle—but at Cushman, I was met with enthusiasm and guidance every step of the way. Cushman’s academic offerings are equally impressive. As a member of the school’s first AP Capstone Diploma cohort, I engaged in rigorous, research-based coursework that deepened my critical thinking and public speaking skills through AP Seminar and AP Research. Additionally, Cushman’s unique support programs—such as summer ACT and SAT tutoring—played a vital role in strengthening my academic readiness and confidence as a test-taker.”

“The Society and Me (SAM) four-year-course is a hallmark of our upper school curriculum. Students design and implement solutions to issues they identify as critical to the future of our communities, on a local, national, and even global scale. Required for all Cushman High School students, SAM is more than community service; it is about creating lasting positive change.”
