Cushman goes above and beyond to cultivate a sense of belonging and community, whether through classroom instruction or extracurricular activities. As a longtime ballet dancer, I’m grateful for the flexibility and support that allowed me to pursue my artistic and academic interests simultaneously, and I feel prepared for college thanks to Cushman’s outstanding teachers, peers, and college counseling department. With Cushman’s encouragement, I was able to pursue my academic interests while creating new opportunities for my peers by founding the Science National Honor Society and co-founding the Young Coders’ Initiative. Even starting a Cooking Club was met with enthusiasm and support, proving Cushman truly values the diverse interests of its students. Cushman’s academic offerings are equally impressive. As a member of the school’s first AP Capstone Diploma cohort, I engaged in rigorous, research-based coursework that deepened my critical thinking and public speaking skills through AP Seminar and AP Research. Additionally, Cushman’s unique support programs—such as summer ACT and SAT tutoring—played a vital role in strengthening my academic readiness and confidence as a test-taker.” At Cushman High School, students are challenged to develop critical thinking, effective writing and communication skills, and creative design thinking that allows them to invent solutions to real-life community and global issues.
