Cushman Creates Special Moments

Welcome to The Cushman School’s 101st year. As we move past our centennial year of milestone celebrations, the sense of pride and defining moments we have experienced, and continue to enjoy together, is ever more important.  And throughout our shared joy and focused ambition every year, we remain vigilant about implementing Dr. Cushman’s Philosophy of character first and mission: To cultivate happy, creative and engaged members of society who exemplify an exceptional character and positive attitude.

I am thrilled to launch this year’s theme, Creating Moments. In a world that spins faster each day—most often driven by technology, schedules packed to the brim, and a relentless hum of phone notifications—we need to be more intentional about what we are preserving and create meaningful experiences that anchor our children to curiosity, joy, and connection. I look forward to continuing to develop programming that ignites intellectual development and the importance of routines and executive function, but also on what is foundational to childhood as it also becomes part of your child’s life story: moments.

We have been preparing for this upcoming school year all summer!  Our team of faculty, staff and administrators has grown professionally by attending conferences and workshops, both virtual and in-person, and we have reflected upon various books and research articles. We are all looking forward to implementing what we have learned so our children continue to learn and grow in joyful surroundings, while being presented with an engaging, ever-growing and relevant curriculum. There is nothing more important than fulfilling our mission with intentionality and the deepest love and care for your children.

I look forward to welcoming our Cushman Community back very soon.  Until that time, please continue to make memories as you bask in relaxation and fun, and, most importantly, give your children a hug from me!

With love,

Arvi
