Step into the Artistic World: Explore The Cushman School Gallery Walk

Each year, we invite our families and friends in the community to step into the vibrant and awe-inspiring world of ART at The Cushman School’s annual Gallery Walk. This yearly event showcases artwork and creative projects from all Cushman students in Pre-K through High School. It’s a tremendous celebration of the Arts that serves as an important reminder of the significant benefits of incorporating visual arts programming into the School’s curriculum overall since research proves fostering creative problem-solving skills transcends into success in all academic areas. This enriching event transforms the historic campus (located at 60th and Biscayne) into an interactive exhibit and vast outdoor art gallery for many to enjoy.

The theme of the 2025 Gallery Walk is The Cushman School’s 100th anniversary and the focus on tradition, innovation, strength of character and intentional JOYful environment that had contributed to Cushman’s significant legacy. From stunning paintings and sculptures to intricate ceramics and thought-provoking photographs, every piece on display tells a story about what contributes to Cushman’s century of excellence.

Cushman parent and grandparent, Grace Humbertson, crafted this beautiful commemorative quilt to mark Cushman’s 100th year. This quilt captures so many cherished school traditions. Grace’s three daughters—Kate ‘85, Genevieve ‘89, and Laura ‘92—are Cushman alumni, and now her granddaughters are part of our Elementary School. We are incredibly grateful for the love and dedication that went into creating this meaningful piece of art!

Ranging from beautiful sunflower paintings by the youngest artists in the nursery to STEAM innovations and video productions from upper school students, the overall presentation gives Art Basel some neighborly competition! Music from the steelpan performers and singing from the Voices of Cushman and Half Notes kicks of the events. The combination of visual and performing arts creates a dynamic and multi-sensory experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
